Bo Thompson: Speaking of experience, our guest has got a lot of experience. She’s got a lot of life experience, man. And I stumbled across her today, and to some of our listeners who are, but especially loyal viewers of Fox News, they’re going to recognize her. And this woman, her resume – after I did a deep dive, I was like, “Wow, I’m very impressed.” I can’t wait to learn more about her story. And you can learn more about her story. She has a book out called Raven’s Mantle: Fighting the Betrayal of America. She’s a political strategist, a former congressional candidate. And she’s now our guest, Raven Harrison. Welcome aboard. How are you?
Raven Harrison: I’m doing great. Thanks for having me.
Bo: I got to admit, I read a little bit about you this morning and I’m like, “This could be an interesting guest.” And I reached out to you. You were kind enough to say, “Sure, yeah, I’ll chat with you.” And then I explored your background a little more. You’ve done a lot of living. You ain’t that old.
Raven: I have, telling you, I’m packing it in.
Bo: You’re packing it in. Well, tell me this, first of all, what prompted you to write this book? And correct me if I’m wrong, but this book’s only been out, what, about six weeks? Not even that?
Raven: Yeah, correct. It came out right around Memorial Day. But this whole journey, the long year of being a conservative warrior all started from a single incident when my daughter was eight years old. So, in March of 2017, my eight-year-old daughter was, they attempted to expel her from elementary school for voting for President Trump in a mock election. We knew nothing about. They called us 10 minutes before the end of school and said she was being expelled. And so that’s what started the whole, I knew nothing about CRT, wasn’t very heavily into politics. And that, our lives changed in that moment. And you know, we have a saying in Texas, if you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
Bo: Yeah, no doubt, they got the horns from you. So that puts you on this path where you just became Uber involved in trying to make change.
Raven: Well, you know, I grew up in service. Both my parents are retired Air Force colonels, and I’m married to a retired C17 pilot in the Air Force. So we are patriotic, we are military. So I’ve lived in communism. I’ve lived and grew up in service to people and service to this country. So I love it. My family has fled for it, and it’s worth fighting for. So all of this kind of came to a culmination. I just didn’t know this was my journey. But now that I am, I can’t see myself doing anything else. I feel an honor and a privilege to fight for our country.
Bo: She’s Raven Harrison. You can follow her on Twitter at raven_TX_warrior. And I think warrior is a very appropriate description. Raven, you describe yourself as a Native American and African American descent woman. That’s quite a mixture there. What do you think?
Raven: Well, it hits it.
Bo: What do you think when you hear somebody like Tim Scott say that America is not inherently racist?
Raven: Well, I agree. I feel like a lot of people have comments on what America is. And it’s an evolution. As my Native American heritage says, we don’t own this land. We belong to it. We’re stewards of it. It’s a relationship. And it’s funny to see how many people now want to claim territory. Some want reparations. Some, you know, who weren’t slaves want to be paid by those who didn’t own slaves. And it’s become a really divisive topic. But there used to be a time when we could share, when we could live together. And it’s funny, as I’m not only America first, I’m a First American. So I find that really interesting, but very little times do people consult my opinion on that. But I think that it’s all in the wording when people say this. You know, is your lineage people who were native to this land, who’ve been here since the beginning? I mean, I’m the only one who’s not an immigrant technically.
Bo: Wow, that is an egg of the thing. What was it like on the campaign trail when you told your story? How did people react?
Raven: Well, the voters responded wonderfully. They loved the fight. They loved that I’m just like them. I’m a mother. I’m a business owner. I’m a wife. I’m a patriot. I’m all those things. But I realized that there’s a difference between being a patriot and being patriotic. There’s work that has to be done. America isn’t easy. You know, she needs to be kept intended and worked to, and our freedoms have to be fought for. It’s not, we can’t be on cruise control. So when I was delivering this message, great. The establishment, not so much. The status quo. And that’s why I tell people, I’m not a recruitment ad for the Republican Party. I mean, there’s a lot of work to be done on both sides. Need a deep house cleaning.
Bo: Raven, I presume your daughter is what, 13 or 14 now?
Raven: She’s 13.
Bo: Well, how has she evolved since that incident that put you on this path through, you know, I hate to use the word activism, because when I hear activism, I think about the ’60s and that movement and all that, but that’s kind of what you are. You’re kind of an activist.
Raven: Yeah, and I mean, I’ll take that. And she’s doing great now because it’s how you process. We believe in God, and we believe that, you know, there’s purpose. So rather than it being an open, festering sore for her, I’ve allowed her to have a voice. So she’s spoken about it on the war room with Steve Bannon, and now she feels very proud. She stood for something that she believed in, and she paid dearly for it. But now she owns that, and it’s very interesting how people respond to that, just letting her tell that story. But now it doesn’t control her, she controls it. She has the ownership of that story, and I’m super proud of her. She’s doing great.
Bo: That’s wonderful, that’s wonderful. We’ve only got a couple of minutes left. What is your big project right now? What are you working on?
Raven: We are on the book tour right now. We’re doing various legs. We are planning on being out at the Fault and Light Festival there in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of our favorite places, and just getting the message out. I’m unclear whether I’ll actually run again. It’s possible, but I’ll be fighting in some capacity because we the people have to take America back. This is not gonna be something the politicians who wreck this country are going to fix. It’s going to be something that we the people are going to fix, and we have to stand up, we have to get involved, we have to get off the sofa, and we have to make our voices heard, and we have to make them understand what we the people is.
